Stephen McCarrick

Stephen McCarrick is a professional bass drummer, educator, podcast host, producer, and the manager of the @yeah_bass Instagram page. He currently performs with the Philadelphia Eagles Drumline and serves as the bass drum instructor for United Percussion, The Bushwackers Drum & Bugle Corps, and Rowan University.

Stephen’s marching career began with a bang in 2013 when he won a gold medal in WGI Percussion Scholastic Open, sparking a lifelong passion for the marching arts—particularly indoor percussion. After high school, he marched with Cadets2 in 2016 and 2017, securing a gold medal and a high percussion trophy in 2016. His DCI and WGI experience includes two tours (2018–2019) with Carolina Crown, and three formative seasons (2017–2019) at United Percussion. He concluded his competitive marching career with Rhythm X in 2020 and 2022, earning a Percussion Independent World silver medal in 2022 and showcasing his talent in two independent bass drum etudes, “Where’s My Chair” and “Condado”. Stephen has attended every WGI Percussion World Championship in Dayton, OH since 2013.


As an educator, Stephen has worked with numerous ensembles in the Philadelphia area, shaping the next generation of bass drummers. Today, he takes pride in teaching some of the most talented performers in the Northeast, giving back to the very programs that helped shape his career. Beyond teaching and performing, Stephen continues to expand his impact on the marching percussion community through @yeah_bass and as a co-host of the On A Water Break podcast. He remains committed to growing the activity, educating future generations, and Advancing the Art of Bass Drum worldwide.
